The full story
A keycap deserves a frame if it is going to sit on your desk all year.
Same job as the plain base, considerably more occasion. This one is printed in gold silk filament with an ornate carved border, so the cap sitting in the middle reads as something displayed rather than something left there.
The switch inside is the real thing, so it presses like a keyboard key rather than a decoration. Put a skull in it and it looks like a tiny museum piece with a bad attitude.
Why You'll Love It
- Catches the light on a shelf: silk filament has a genuine sheen to it, so it does not sit flat and dull the way ordinary plastic does.
- Ready the moment it arrives: a Kailh Box clicky switch is already installed, so there is nothing to assemble.
- Makes a loose keycap look deliberate: the border turns a spare cap into something you meant to display.
- Change the face, keep the frame: caps swap by hand, so it can hold a pumpkin in October and something else in January.
- Takes the caps you already own: standard MX mount, so spares from a keyboard build work in it too.
